This year was brutal for those working in the video game industry, as studio closures and mass layoffs resulted in many projects never seeing the light of day.

London Studio, PlayStation’s own studio behind titles such as VR game “Blood & Truth” and sequel “The Getaway: Black Monday,” was one of the studios that suffered such a fate. Unfortunately, the studio closed earlier this year as part of PlayStation’s restructuring, leading to the cancellation of a new IP codenamed “Camden,” a live-action co-op game set in a fantasy version of London.

Prior to its cancellation, only concept art of the game’s aesthetic was available. It featured a modern take on the fantasy genre, with orcs and a dragon fighting what appeared to be the main characters in the middle of a city.

Thanks to recent discoveries, we can now take another look at the game’s setting.

PlayStation London project canceled – colorful and vibrant London

The discovery comes from a post on ArtStation by artist Léa Pinto, who worked at the London Studio from 2021 to April 2023.

The post shows concept art created in 2023 for the canceled project, making it easy to deduce that it is Camden. This is supported by the illustrations, which include an exploration of color in two works depicting London streets and shops whose names refer to fantasy elements such as fairies, orcs and elves.

While the first two photos in the post show concepts of the street during the day and at night, the next two photos show what appears to be the front of St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Paul, one of the most famous and recognizable monuments in London.

It’s also worth noting that the colorful aesthetic of the illustration harkens back to the first artwork revealed by London Studio in 2022.

Unfortunately, nothing else of note was shown, so we can only hope that more content related to the development of this canceled project will be revealed in the future. We will let you know if there are any updates.
