Second man charged with manslaughter in Kingsway stabbing

A second man has been charged with second-degree murder in the May stabbing death of a 34-year-old man in Edmonton’s Kingsway neighborhood.

On Around 1:39 a.m. on May 15, city police officers were called to the area of ​​102 Street and Kingsway Avenue after reports of an injured man on the sidewalk. Paramedics treated the man and took him to hospital, where he later died.

Police identified the victim as Clinton Quintal, 34. An autopsy determined he died of multiple stab wounds and his death was ruled a homicide.

Three days later, police identified as a suspect Irvin Badarm, 31, who was also wanted for a robbery at the Kingsway transit station about an hour before the attack, and charged him with robbery and manslaughter. Police said Quintal and Badarm did not know each other.

At the time, police assumed that more suspects were involved in the attack and robbery.

On Thursday, Adam Chinery, 35, was arrested by police and charged with manslaughter, police said in a news release Friday.

Investigators determined that Chinery did not participate in the robbery. Police say they are no longer looking for further suspects.
