Clinton Twp. man accused of shooting at teens in car charged

A 21-year-old man has been charged in connection with the alleged shooting of three teenagers in Macomb Township, authorities announced Wednesday.

Kevin Donte Price, 21, was visiting a friend’s house when he allegedly tried to fight with a teenager who lived there when he entered the house Sunday, the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office said in a news release.

The victim left his home, returned to the car with his two friends and drove away, the statement said.

Investigators allege Price got into his car and chased the youths before pulling up next to their vehicle and shooting it multiple times.

Price’s bullets hit another car during the shooting. No one was injured.

The trio managed to escape and called the police.

“Violence of any kind in our community is unacceptable, and we take these incidents very seriously,” Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido said in the news release. “This reckless and dangerous behavior could have had tragic consequences, and we are grateful no one was injured. My office will work tirelessly to hold the individual accountable.”

The price was charged for ten crimes, including discharging a firearm from a vehicle and malicious destruction of personal property between $1,000 and $20,000. He was also charged with three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and four counts of using a firearm to commit a crime.

Magistrate James Verploeg arraigned Price on Tuesday in 41A Shelby District Court and set his bond at $500,000.

Price must be confined to his home, not contact the victims and remain in Michigan with a GPS tether if he is released.

Verploeg also referred him to Community Corrections for a mental health evaluation.

Price’s attorney, William Barnwell, declined to comment Wednesday.

His probable cause hearing is scheduled for Nov. 12.

A preliminary exam is also scheduled for Nov. 19, according to online court records.
