Darryl Johnson and Tarika Gilbert are facing numerous drug-related charges

LIMESTONE CO., Ala. (WAF) – Two people were arrested on Monday after a drug bust in Athens.

The Limestone County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division (CID), Narcotics Division and SWAT team executed a search warrant at a home on Beech St.

The warrant was the result of CID and Narcotics Investigators working together to investigate fentanyl overdose deaths.

During the search, investigators found drugs and drug paraphernalia in the home where 49-year-old Darryl Johnson and 34-year-old Tarika Gilbert were being held.

Johnson was charged with Drug Trafficking – Fentanyl, Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance – Fentanyl, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of Marijuana – 2nd Degree.

Gilbert was charged with Drug Trafficking – Fentanyl, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of Marijuana – 2nd Degree.

Bond has not yet been set for Johnson or Gilbert.
