Take a look inside a lawyer’s creepy haunted house

(CNN) – It just wouldn’t be Halloween without a few scares, and one house in Massachusetts is full of them.

On an unassuming street in the middle of a quiet town in Massachusetts, terror awaits the victims (visitors) of a homemade haunted house.

“She’s really horrible.”

For years, Stanley Helinski dreamed of turning his backyard on Parker Street in Wellesley into a nightmare.

“I love Halloween. The response has been incredible,” Helinski said.

After more than a month of planning and design help from his daughter, his backyard has turned into a Halloween haven for fright seekers.

“One hundred percent love doing this,” Helinski said.

He used tarpaulin, plastic and rope to hold the structure in place, and inside props such as ghosts, ghouls, skeletons and tombstones, inspired by haunted theme parks and his favorite famous Halloween characters.

The project gave him a break from his day job as a trial lawyer.

But what’s scarier: the courtroom or his haunted house?

“By far the courtroom,” Helinski said.

And this haunted house is anything but funny. All ages are welcome. But be careful, it gets a little scary.

“Some people are super excited when they come out. Some cry. I put candy at the end to get them through, I guess,” Helinski said.

He hopes neighbors benefit from the experience and promises it will remain free.

“The joy of people coming out after saying, ‘That was so great.’ I just love that,” Helinski said.

The haunted house is open on Halloween and the following weekend.
