What are today’s Connections answers?

Here are the full answers to today’s Connections puzzle on Friday, November 1:

  • Progress slowly: Crawling, crawling, dragging, inches
  • Ways to order a beer: Bottle, can, tap, tap
  • Cheesy Corn Snack Unit: Ball, Curl, Doodle, Puff Pastry
  • ___ Effect: Butterfly, Domino, Halo, Placebo

In my opinion, November starts with a very difficult Connections. I had no idea how to group all those Cheesy Corn words because I’ve been trying to stop snacking on cheesy corn curls and similar snacks for the past few months. The Purple group is also difficult. I don’t know about you, but I don’t really think about the Butterfly or Domino Effect on a regular basis.

What are connections?

Connections is one of the most popular daily puzzle games published by the New York Times (owners of Word). The goal of Connections is to group the 16 words of the day into four groups, with each group of four words having a common theme.

For example, the words “Hook”, “Nana”, “Peter” and “Wendy” are all Peter Pan characters. Or to take another example, ‘Action’, ‘Ballpark’, ‘Go’ and ‘Stick’ are all words that usually come right before the word ‘Figure’.

Your job is to figure out what these themes are that connect the different words – but be wary, as distracting links are often deliberately put in there to throw you off! To win the game, you must find all four Connections without making 4 mistakes. On your fourth mistake, the game ends and the answer is automatically revealed.

Each of the four groups in each day’s Connection Puzzle is also assigned a different color, indicating how easy or difficult the Connection is to find. These colors are: Yellow (Easiest), Green (Easiest), Blue (Medium) and Purple (Most Difficult).
