Trump reveals why he didn’t declassify JFK assassination files in interview with Joe Rogan – IJR

Former President Donald Trump said Friday that he did not fully declassify files related to the assassination of former President John F. Kennedy during his previous term because of requests from well-meaning people.

Trump promised declassify the remaining files if he is re-elected in the May 2023 elections. interview with the Messenger. Trump named former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo as one of those who advised him at the time not to release all the documents entirely.

“I opened them partially. I was met by – good people, I mean, you know, look at me, good people, people who had the best intentions, Mike Pompeo was one of them, he’s a good person. Uh, they called me and said, “Sir, it would be better if you weren’t here.” And then I opened them, but some people asked me not to open them,” Trump told Rogan.

“By the way, there is also the Martin Luther King file that they would like to see, I don’t know if you know, but it is there, but in particular John Kennedy,” Trump continued. “So I get calls, I get calls from a lot of good people, people that I, you know, what would you find reasonable people, and they asked me not to do this, so I said, well, we’ll close it for another time. But if I win, I will open them.”

Trump declassified over 2,800 documents in 2017 relating to the November 22, 1963 assassination. President Joe Biden released additional documents in 2021 and 2022, but critics have accused Biden of lacking transparency.

– Why didn’t you open it the first time? – Rogan asked. “What was the hesitation?”

“Addresses, people who are still alive, there are people who were hurt, um, and there may be some national security reason that you know I don’t need to know about, but some very good talented people have asked me not to talk about about this. do it,” Trump explained. “I opened it and then they said can we do it another day?”

Trump said he would not hesitate to declassify the documents if he returns to office in the Nov. 5 general election.

“This is a purge, you know, this is really a purge, so I’m going to do it,” Trump told Rogan. “I plan to do this immediately, almost as soon as I take office.”
