JD Vance Confronts CNN’s Tapper for Pushing Russia Collusion Narrative: Talking About It ‘Non-Stop’

During a controversial interview on CNN, Republican Party vice presidential candidate JD Vance criticized host Jake Tapper and his network for their lack of “integrity” in reporting on former President Trump, accusing them of spreading the Russia conspiracy story as if it were was real.

The moment came after Vance and Tapper sparred above accusations from ex-White House Chief of Staff John Kelly, that Trump once claimed he wanted generals like Hitler. Vance pointed out how Tapper’s network has become fixated on reporting on these types of anti-Trump claims, bringing up CNN’s reporting on the alleged conspiracy between Trump and Russia to steal the 2016 election as an example.

“A viewer of your network would have believed that Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin conspired in 2016. That was completely and ridiculously untrue,” Vance said.

The discussion began when Vance challenged CNN’s integrity after denying Kelly’s claims about Trump’s “fascist” impulses, which went viral earlier this week and were pushed by the Harris campaign and other Democratic lawmakers.

“Take a step back. Ask yourself a basic question about network integrity. You guys were talking about the Russian hoax non-stop,” Vance said.

Tapper defended CNN, saying, “The FBI was investigating it. The FBI was investigating it, so we got them covered.”

The candidate pointed his finger and responded, “And so you took the words of unnamed FBI agents and posted them on your network as if they were gospel truth.”

“You’ve done it time and time again,” he continued, calling the collusion accusations “false.”

“No,” the journalist replied. ‘What you just said is not true. We covered an FBI investigation. “I don’t know why you want to talk about the FBI investigation.”

Vance didn’t back down, insisting, “You told it in a way that gave credence to the accusations from anonymous sources.” You did it yourself. Your network did it, Jake.”

Despite denying Vance’s allegations during their interview, Tapper has reported for years on the Russiagate story until Special Counsel John Durham’s 2023 report on the investigation found that the FBI “failed to uphold their mission of strict fidelity to the law” in carrying it out.

That report came four years after special counsel Robert Mueller concluded his investigation into the Trump-Russia collusion, which yielded no proof of criminal conspiracy or coordination between the Trump campaign and Russia to influence the 2016 election.

As their interview continued, Vance asked Tapper if they could talk about Trump’s policies instead of the things he allegedly said.

“But then again, can we talk about issues that Americans care about most?” he asked.

Tapper fired back: “I’m talking about things that Donald Trump has said… If you have a problem with whether or not he talks about the economy enough, that’s between you and your running mate. I’m talking about the things he said this week. .”

Vance further told Tapper, “You guys seem to care more about Donald Trump’s past than the future of the American people.”
