Just in: Tinubu government donates N500 million to Nigerian Legion, cheers ensue

FCT, Abuja – The Bola Tinubu The government on Tuesday, October 29, donated N500 million to the Nigerian Legion.

President Tinubu commended the Nigerian Armed Forces for their “relentless efforts” in combating the various security challenges plaguing the country.

George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), announced the donation during the Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration 2025 emblem and appeal fund launch at the State House, Abuja.

President Tinubu said that without the efforts of the armed forces to stabilize the country, the government’s reform policies and economic theories would have little impact.

Tinubu impressed the Nigerian armed forces

According to the presidency, Tinubu stressed that the welfare of the security forces would remain a top priority of his administration. The Nigerian leader also commended men and women who paid the ultimate price in defense of the country, assuring that their sacrifices will not be in vain.

He said:

“We came today to remember our fallen heroes, men and women who sacrificed their lives for the unity, stability and progress of this country.

“We are committed to their values, principles, beliefs and the unity and strength of this country as we pass a banner without blemish to the next generation.

The Nigerian Legion was delighted

Meanwhile, retired Major General Abdulmalik Jibril, the national chairman of the Nigeria Legion commended President Tinubu for the unprecedented donation.

He added that with the donation “their families will not be left on the streets and they will not be beggars.”

Tinubu’s wife donates N1bn

Previously, Legit.ng reported that Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has pledged a donation of N1 billion for the horticultural landscape of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) campus in Ile-Ife.
