MIDDLE (WABC) — If you’re looking for some of the best pizza in New York City, look no further than the subway station.
This week’s Neighborhood Eats takes you to See No angry pizza which is located in the center of No. 50th Street Station. 1 train stop. They prove that being underground doesn’t mean underperforming.
“I decided, why don’t I try to come up with something like a full-fledged restaurant here on the concourse of the only train that goes south,” says Adrien Gallo, the founder of See No Evil Pizza. “Everyone says we’re crazy. Everyone says we’re crazy. We made it happen, and now we’re here.”
The store improves travelers’ experience riding the subway.

“Everything we do, because in the combination of being in the metro we make it more fun than it is. We do our utmost to use some of the best ingredients, and the design, aesthetics and service are simply top notch ” he said.
“The menu is two pages. One page is pizza. One page is not pizza. The non-pizza side is where we show a lot of the things that we get seasonally from the market, like a salad, an antipasti, something like that,” says Ed Carew, executive chef of See No Evil Pizza.
If you want to try something that isn’t pizza, they have a standout dish.
“Our favorite dish on the anti-pasti side, which is fresh salted sardines that we pickle and toss in olive oil,” Carew said. “A fairly simple dish. You start with mozzarella, we add a little salsa verde, add our fresh sardines and throw it on the plate.”
They say it’s a great way to start your meal. But then pizza!
“We’re going to start with the hell cake, which consists of soppressata, pepperoni, Calabrian peppers, mozzarella, pecorino and basil,” Carew said.
And there are several other types to choose from.
“This is our pizza that’s highlighting summer right now,” Carew said. “We have crema, some pesto, zucchini, marinated zucchini.”
They say they have to put a lot of care into every piece of pizza they make because it makes them stand out while being at the epicenter of pizza in America.
It’s great fun to get people from a completely different part of the world excited.

“We get a lot of tourists. They’re here for the shows, and now it’s really cool. It’s really fun to get people from a completely different part of the world excited. Like, oh, this is so different and cool, Carew said.
We are hands down the best pizza place in Midtown, I will fight people, I will die on that hill.

“It’s a real New York City experience. You know? It’s a real, absolutely authentic New York City experience,” Gallo said. “We are hands down the best pizza place in Midtown. I will fight people, I will die on that hill.”
